Scandinavian Knives

"Knives of Scandinavia have many different variations, depending on culture and country of origin. The Pukko is one of the most famous Scandinavian knife types. The Pukko's blade has a single curving edge and a flat back, usually incorporating a wood handle. In Scandinavia, Pukko is often used synonymously with the word 'knife'. Scandinavian Knives are best known for the style of grind on the knife blade, commonly referred to as the Scandinavian grind. The Scandinavian grind is a flat grind that continues to the point of the knife. There is no secondary grind. This makes Scandinavian Knives simple and easy to sharpen. You simply lay the single bevel flat on the sharpening stone and grind in a circular motion. It eliminates sharpening errors because the knife is not held up at an estimated angle, as needed when sharpening a traditional knife with a secondary bevel. Scandinavian Knives are beautiful in both form and function. Their simplicity lends to a great value in cutting tools. We carry a wide selection of Scandinavian Knives, including: EKA, Fallkniven, and Frosts of Sweden; Brusletto and Helle of Norway; and IIsakki of Finland."
